Manuscript composition

1 Information page:

The information page should include the title (less than 20 Chinese characters), each author's name and work unit, a brief introduction of the first author (name, age, professional title or degree, academician or not, research interests). The information page should also give a clear indication of the name of the corresponding author and his/her E-mail address, telephone number  and information about funding. Manuscript word-count, the number of figures and tables should be enumerated in the left bottom corner of the information page.

2 Abstract:

The abstract should outline the research background, objectives, methods, main results, conclusions and further research prospects. A Chinese abstract should be in less than 300 Chinese characters, while an English abstract should be less than 1000 words (no more than 1 A4 page). The research objectives should be noted using scientific names for the first time used in both the Chinese and English abstracts.

Abstract should be written in the following format:

In order to investigate the body mass of A and B fish (Objective).Using the table balance to measure the body mass of A and B fish (Methods). The results indicated that the body mass of A fish is 100g, and the B fish is 120g (Results). The research show that the body mass of A fish is smaller than that of B fish (Conclusion).


This study was to investigate the bodyweight between fish A and fish B (experimental objective). The body weight was measured by counter balance (experimental method). The results showed that the body weight of fish A and fish B was 100g and 120g, respectively (results). In conclusion, the body weight of fish A was less than that of fish B (conclusion).

3 The Article body text (10.5pt Song typeface):

(1)Introduction: This section should be succinct, with no subheadings. State the objectives, the methods used for the research and the background of the study avoiding a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results.

(2)Materials and methods: This part should contain sufficient detail so that all procedures can be repeated. It can be divided into subsections if several methods are to be described. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference. Reagent producer, instrument model and software brand, etc., should be included in this part.

 (3)Results: Results should be presented concisely and explained explicitly, with the appropriate use of figures and tables. When data is summarized in the Results section, give numeric results not only as derivatives but also as the absolute numbers from which the derivatives were calculated, and specify the statistical methods used to analyze them.

(4)Discussion: Please relate your findings to past and current published work, indicating the significance of your contribution, with its limitations, advantages and possible applications.

(5)References: Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list. Unpublished results and personal communications should not be in the reference list. However, these may be mentioned in the text. In the text, references are cited as 陈松林[1] for single author, as Wilson[2] for more than one author. The first three authors should be listed by name.

4 Tables: Tables must be cited consecutively with Arabic numerals and should be placed in their corresponding places in the text. Every table must have a descriptive title in both of Chinese and English. Tables should be concise and exact and should use three-lines.

5 Figures: Figures must be cited consecutively with Arabic numerals and should be placed in their corresponding places in the text. Every figure must have a descriptive title in both of Chinese and English. Figures should be supplied in either vector art formats (CorelDraw, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) or bitmap formats (TIFF, GIF, JPEG, etc.).

6 Plates:

Photographs should be of sufficiently high quality with respect to detail and contrast. The magnification should be indicated by a scale on the photograph. Plate should be 20cm in height and 16cm in width (8cm in width for half-plates). The space between photographs should be 1mm. Plate must have a descriptive title in both of Chinese and English.

7 Other descriptions:

(1) Section title: 1, 1.1, 1.1.1...... (avoid to use the title for level 4);

(2) Chinese names and geographical names should be spelled in pinyin (Example: 楼允东, LOU Yun-dong). Specific name and the variables in calculation formula should be in italics. Please use the National Standard for the expression of quantities, units and numerical values.


1Except in special circumstances, the author will be notified if the manuscript has not been accepted within 3 months.

2The author must send back the revised draft, revised opinions, original and modification explanations to the editorial department in the two months after receiving the manuscript. Failure to return the manuscript will be treated as the first submission if the author resends the manuscript.

3The publication fee is RMB 200 per page if the manuscript is accepted, and additional RMB 200 per page will be charged for the extra pages. The author needs to double check the color pictures or charts unless they can reflect the experimental results necessarily, and the color chart of each page is charged RMB 800.

4The author will be paid RMB 50 per page for the piece after publication.
